General Questions

The DAMFIX™ product range are specialised earth dam sealing and water management solutions designed to seal leaks, improve water retention, and support healthier dam systems. The range includes DAMFIX Wet™ (for existing filled dams), DAMFIX Dry™ (for new or empty dams), and DAMFIX Bio™ (for water quality improvement).

DAMFIX Wet™ is a polymer-based granular solution that is applied directly to the surface of a leaking dam. When it comes into contact with water, it activates and swells significantly. It sinks to the floor of the dam. With hydrostatic water pressure the expanded material moves into porous areas, where it bonds with soil particles to create a natural seal — without needing to drain the dam.

No. DAMFIX Wet™ is specifically designed to seal leaking dams without draining the water, saving time, reducing costs, and avoiding unnecessary water loss.DAMFIX Dry™ is designed for new dams or empty dams where soil compaction can be properly done during construction. This sealing process accelerates the settlement period of the dam.

Yes. DAMFIX™ products are non-toxic when used according to guidelines. They are designed to be environmentally responsible and are safe for livestock, wildlife, aquatic life, and irrigation systems.

Suitable for most soil-based (earth) dams, including:Irrigation damsLivestock damsFarm reservoirsGame farm damsLifestyle estate damsGolf course damsAgricultural water storage systemsDevelopment and construction damsNot suitable for concrete or plastic-lined dams.

Most leaking earth dams caused by porous soil, small cracks, seepage zones, or structural weaknesses are suitable for a DAMFIX™ sealing treatment. For large structural failures or severe damage, a site assessment may be recommended. DAMFIX™ representatives can assist with evaluation where necessary.

On average, a reduction in water loss should be observed within 7 to 14 days of application. If there is no significant improvement after 14 to 30 days, additional treatment may be necessary. Under-dosing is risky and not recommended. Results vary depending on soil type, construction methods, root systems, and the condition of the dam wall or base structure.

Yes. DAMFIX Dry™ is specifically formulated for new dams after construction or empty dams undergoing renovation. It improves soil bonding, reduces permeability, strengthens the foundation before water is introduced, and accelerates the settlement period under consistent hydrostatic pressure.

DAMFIX Bio™ is a biological water treatment solution designed to improve water quality. It contains beneficial microorganisms that help reduce algae, break down organic waste, reduce sludge, and improve overall water clarity. It is not a sealing product.

Yes. DAMFIX Bio™ assists with algae control by reducing excess nutrients that feed algae growth and supports a natural biological balance in dams and water systems.

DAMFIX Wet™ is spread evenly over the water surface according to recommended guidelines. No draining is required.DAMFIX Dry™ uses a two-part process. Part 1 involves tilling the polymer-clay composite into the top soil layer followed by compaction. Part 2 is completed after the dam has filled by applying a light dose of polymer blend to consolidate the seal.DAMFIX Bio™ is poured directly into the water system. Professional application services are available for larger projects.

Yes. Expert support and application services are available through the professional network, ensuring correct dosing, proper application, and optimal performance.

Yes. DAMFIX Wet™ is designed to be a practical and cost-effective alternative to draining, bentonite applications, PVC/HDPE liners, and extensive repairs. Because it works without emptying the dam, it reduces downtime and water loss.

DAMFIX™ products are available throughout South Africa through agents and selected distributors. Customers can contact DAMFIX™ directly via the website for enquiries.

Yes. DAMFIX Wet™ and DAMFIX Dry™ perform well in dams of 1,000 m² and larger. They excel under hydrostatic water pressure. Larger dams may require calculated dosing based on surface area, leakage severity, and the extent of compromised areas.

When applied correctly, DAMFIX Wet™ and DAMFIX Dry™ integrate into the soil layer and do not create a visible surface layer. DAMFIX Bio™ improves water clarity over time as organic matter is reduced.
